The follow-up release to Telekaster’s deeply elaborated and meticulously crafted Tracing Back The Stream LP (released in March 2024) is a five-track meditation with electric guitar, effects and guitar synthesis. The respective variations were improvised around one theme and recorded live in the studio in a handful of sessions and edited into their final shape straight after – as a deliberate attempt to create music in the moment without much post-production and overthinking. Lontano encapsulates the feeling of projecting yourself into distant places, the longing for something beautiful far away. Made at night, meant to be listened to at night.

“Telekaster floats clean, electronically altered guitar tones across vast cathedrals of sonic space, making music that is serene but climactic (…) While moods shift, the work coheres. Telekaster is keen for you to listen front-to-end. You’ll hear shades of Chuck Johnson’s silvery atmospherics in Tracing Back the Stream and bits that sound like Robert Poss of Band of Susans in a contemplative mood. The music hovers and looms, tones left to shimmer like a heat mirage in an aftermath of undertones. Post-rockers like Barn Owl and Jon Porras haunt the margins, and you might occasionally flash on other Germans, Ulrich Schnauss for instance, or the pristine, electronic geometries of Roedelius. (…) Telekaster builds slowly, gaining heft and drama as it goes. It won’t grab you by the throat early on or any time after, but rather creates a still, beautiful place to get lost in contemplation.” – from the review by Dusted Magazine

„This EP is a deliberate study in immediacy. It’s ambient music with just a hint of heartache, a sound as tender as it is elusive. There is a rare, comforting irony in its sparseness – for an album that speaks of distance, “Lontano” brings us closer to something vast, elemental, and ineffably human. In “Lontano”, Grübel has created a work that speaks to the spaces within us that can’t quite be mapped. It’s a testament to the power of restraint and of letting music simply “be”. This is not an album for a hurried world but a collection for those who find meaning in distance, who sense that the far-off hum of longing may be as close to peace as we ever get.“

“Das neue Minialbum ist ein beeindruckendes, melancholisch eingefärbtes Ambientwerk, das unterschiedlichen Zitaten oder deren Fata Morgana (Kosmische Musik, Smooth Jazz, Neoklassik, Cinematisches) Raum gibt.” – from the review by African Paper

“Les amoureux des textures sonores et des ambiances cinématographiques trouveront dans Lontano un écho aux œuvres de pionniers comme Michael Brook, avec cette même capacité à transformer le son en espace de méditation. Télékaster nous prouve que, parfois, la simplicité et l’authenticité d’une performance saisie en direct peuvent suffire à créer une œuvre captivante, destinée à être savourée dans l’intimité d’une écoute nocturne.” – from the review by Solénopole
